We are extremely sad to hear the news of the passing of coaching legend and BMC committee member George Gandy.
Our thoughts are with George’s family, friends and all those athletes he has coached or guided.
It is hard to believe that such a lifeforce is no longer with us especially when it comes so suddenly and unexpectedly. George was not only one of the most successful middle-distance coaches but also one who delighted in the success of all athletes, particularly of course those who ran, or had run in Loughborough colours. Whether they were setting world leading times or breaking more modest personal bests George was equally pleased.
We will miss his guidance, knowledge, and humour enormously.
A full tribute will be presented on the BMC website and in the next BMC news.
RIP George
